Christmas Gifts for the Quilter on Your List (Every Budget)
Buying for a quilter can feel tricky if you don't sew yourself. You look at a wall of fabric and rulers and have no idea where to start. Good news: it doesn't have to be that hard. Whether you're shopping for a beginner who just started their first quilt or someone who's been at this for twenty years, here's a list broken down by price so you can grab something good and move on with your day.
Under $25: Stocking Stuffers
These are the small things that make a quilter's whole week. Nothing here needs a big box or a bow, just a stocking or a card.
Quilters love color. We just finished our fall retreat season. I loved looking at all the sewing machines and bags covered in stickers and Pins. A simple way to show love to your quilting loved ones is with one of our Enamel Pins, "Color Is The Point" ($12.95), or one of our vinyl stickers ($3.00). All of the above are small, fun, and easy to tuck into a card.
Beeliner Ruler
This year we released our first dedicated quilting ruler! The Beeliner HRT 2.5 Trimming Ruler ($11.95) is a great help for trimming Half Rectangle Triangles (HRT), Split Quarter Rectangle Triangles (SQRT), and Quarter Rectangle Triangles (QRT) accurately, every time. It works with any pattern, but we have leaned heavily on it this year with the Hush Punk and Sly Spark quilt patterns
Controlled Improv Patterns
Before everything else, we are known for our controlled improv patterns. The Caper quilt above is always a favorite, but we have plenty of patterns in our growing catalog. You can shop them here.
$25 to $50:
Bamboo Batting
There are so many ways to finish a quilt. At Jittery Wings, we have fallen in love with Bamboo batting. This crib-size batting is in many of our display quilts.
12-Color Bundles
This year we really have enjoyed making the crib-size quilts. It is a great way to see the pattern and the colors come alive and complete a project. All of our quilt patterns will work with 12 colors. Here is a Tambo Star Jason put together using bundle 36.
Bundle 28A has been one of our best-selling 12 fabric bundles, but you can shop the other colors here.
$50 to $100:
Creative Grids Quilt Ruler 12-1/2in x 24-1/2in Rectangle
This is Jason's favorite ruler. This year, when Jason went full-time at Jittery Wings, he really struggled with cutting straight lines with a rotary cutter and ruler. He was putting too much pressure on the ruler, and it would slide out from under him. The large Creative Grids Ruler solved the problem. The larger surface area keeps the fabric, the mat, and the ruler solidly in place.
The Soft Hustle Thread Collection
This year Mitzie and Aurifil collaborated to create the Soft Hustle Thread collection. All of these threads show up in our quilts. They're always on the sewing machine.
This collection brings together four gently muted, hard-working hues that stitch harmony into even the boldest quilts. They pull all the colors together into a cohesive finish without competing for attention.
24-Color Bundles
Bundle No. 4 ($72.95) (The Original All the Good Palette) is where things really began for Jittery Wings. Mitzie put together this palette and loved the colors so much that she found a way to use every last inch. These colors always seem to create something wonderful.
We have so many other bundles. If you would like to check them out, they are available here
$100+
For the person on your list who has earned a truly big gift, or the one you just want to spoil this year.
Every Art Gallery Pure Solid Bundle (227 Fat Quarters) ($679.00).
This is the whole rainbow. For the quilter who has everything and wants more of it.
And If You're Looking Beyond a Physical Gift...
Sometimes the best gift isn't a thing at all. A HIVE+ membership is a good pick for the quilter who wants ongoing support, not just another thing to unwrap. It gets them access to companion courses like Hush Punk and Cosmic Sass, plus free shipping on every order, no $125 minimum required.
The cost is 8 dollars a month
No matter the budget, every one of these comes from a shop that already knows what quilters want, because we are one.
One more thing worth knowing before you check out: shipping is free on any order over $125, so if you're stacking a few gifts from this list for the same person, it might be worth doing the math before you hit "buy." Otherwise it's a flat $8 to ship.
