Color Flow Quilt Retreat 2026 on September 23-26, 2026 (Registration Opens March 26, 2026) (Second Option Added)

Join Mitzie for the Jittery Wings Color Flow Design Quilt Retreat on September 23-26, 2026.

NOTE WE ADDED A SECOND WEEK IN SEPTEMBER. CHECK DATES BEFORE YOU REGISTER.

During this four-day retreat, you will have full access to Mitzie and her studio as you learn about color firsthand.

• A complete lesson in Design Theory using her Color Flow Process. This will happen between 1:30 and 3:00 pm on the first day.

• Open access to her fabrics (solids) to curate your own personalized bundle of 24 fat quarters with her support. Her studio features large white design walls for you to spread out and curate your colors and your final quilt layout.

• You will get to select one of her controlled improv quilt patterns and she will help you use your newly curated bundle to make it.

• Many of the participants have their quilts laid out before they leave - and some have them sewn together. She has extended the time on Saturday from 3pm to 9pm to allow time for more participants to complete their tops. Wednesday, September 23, 2026- Saturday, September 26, 2026 (second option added)

Schedule:

Make the retreat your own. Other than instruction time during the first 2 hours on Wednesday, you may come and go as you’d like. Take a walk, a nap, or just pop down the street for ice cream.

• Wednesday 1pm-9pm

• Thursday 9am-9pm

• Friday 9am-9pm

• Saturday 9am-9pm (Extended time)

Cost & Perks:

• $420 includes:

  • A personalized, curated bundle of 24 Fat Quarters

  • A Jittery Wings Pattern of your choice.

  • Complete support from Mitzie during studio hours over the 4-day retreat.

• Not included:

  • Food

  • Lodging

  • Transportation

  • Sewing Machine (Our friends at Quilt Werks have a couple of machines for rent)

Lodging:

• If you need lodging for the retreat, visit our Places to Stay page to review your options and book your own accommodations. Jittery Wings does not book lodging because everyone has different needs. On our Places to Stay page, we have provided places where Mitzie would stay. They each have their own style, flavor, cost, and taste of Newberry.

Meals & Shopping:

• Because everyone likes to sew on their own time, lunch and dinner are on your own, or you can make friends and go as a group. Many places will deliver to the Studio downtown, or you can dine at any of our local treasures in Newberry.

• There’s lots of fun and unique shopping in downtown Newberry. There are boutiques, antique stores, and The Quilt Werks, our local quilt shop.

Airports:

Mitzie travels a lot and can usually get a direct flight to Charlotte from most major airports in the USA. Taking an Uber from any airport to Newberry would be difficult and expensive, so she recommends renting a car.
