Happy birthday to us! Jittery Wings is 10 years old today, and the mystery is finally over.
For the last ten days, so many of you trusted me and ordered our very first Limited Edition Birthday Bundle without knowing a single color inside. Thank you. That kind of trust is the best birthday present a quilter could ask for.
So here it is: meet the Sprinkles Bundle, and the quilt I made to celebrate. It's a Sidewalk Cracks quilt, and every time I look at it, I think of a birthday cake covered in rainbow sprinkles.
Meet the Sprinkles Bundle
The Sprinkles Bundle is 24 fat quarters of Art Gallery Fabrics Pure Solids, and I built it the way you'd fill a jar of sprinkles. There are soft, frosting-y lights. There are juicy brights: cherry red, lemon yellow, mint, teal, lilac, coral. Together they feel like a party without ever getting loud.
It works with most of my controlled improv patterns too, including All the Good, Caper, Cosmic Sass, Silas Pew, Gingham Meadow and Pursuit.
A few things to know:
- It's a limited edition, and we are down to our last batch.
- Now that it's revealed, it's back to regular price.
- It's only available until midnight ET on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
- Orders with a Sprinkles Bundle ship between November 2 and November 7.
Why Sidewalk Cracks was the perfect match
When I laid out the Sprinkles fabrics, I kept asking myself one question: what quilt would actually look like sprinkles?
The answer was Sidewalk Cracks. Every block is just two rectangles sewn side by side. Pair a bright with a light, and the bright strip becomes one little sprinkle sitting on top of the frosting.

Then I turned the blocks. Some sprinkles run up and down, some run side to side, so they look tossed instead of lined up in rows. Scatter a few hundred of those across a quilt and you get exactly what happens when you shake the jar over a cake.

On the design wall: lights in the middle
The real secret to the sprinkle effect is the layout. I sorted my blocks by value and put every light block up first, gathered in the center in a loose, organic blob. Not a square. A square makes lines, and sprinkles don't come in lines.

That pale middle is the frosting. With so much soft, quiet space around them, the bright little rectangles pop and read as separate sprinkles instead of blending into one busy rainbow.
Then I worked outward. The mediums went next, and the brights and deeper colors crowded in around the edges, the way sprinkles pile up thicker around the rim of a cake. As I went, I kept checking that the rectangles were alternating directions. Fix one and its neighbors usually need a nudge too. That's normal.
Step back from the finished quilt, and you can see it: a soft glow in the middle and a confetti of color all the way around. Squint at it and tell me it doesn't look like the top of a birthday cake.

The finishing touches
I quilted it with simple straight vertical lines a half inch apart so nothing competes with the sprinkles. And for the binding, I couldn't resist a black-and-white stripe. It frames all that color like the ribbon on a party box.

This quilt will be part of our birthday celebrations for a long time. I hope it makes you smile as much as it makes me smile.
